The Hope Center was founded in 1997 in a small room at Olive Knolls Church. In December, 1999, the Hope Center moved out of Olive Knolls Church to another site and finally in January, 2001, the ministry moved to our current location on Manor Street behind the sanctuary of Cornerstone Christian Church.
The Hope Center is staffed mostly by volunteers and by those doing community service for different local agencies. We operate by donations of money, food, clothing, household items, etc., given by individuals, churches, schools, businesses and various agencies. Together we are able to help thousands each year in our community.
Some of the challenges we face daily are having enough food, clothing, toiletries, bedding and small appliances to meet the needs of the people who walk in. Challenges in the community surrounding the Hope Center include: gangs, sexual abuse, child abuse, spousal abuse and drug abuse.
